USING STRATEGIES AS A BEST WAY TO TEACH.

Do Professors know that strategies are important to teach? Nowadays the students are not interested to learn this language because they think that it is difficult to understand, but if professors use the correct strategies to teach it, they will catch students’ attention and make it easy for them. According to Barncs Ochoa (2007)

English is a complex system of meaningful sounds organised with series of rules (grammar). Every student has enough pronunciation, grammar and sentences structure to understand this; it is also true that language is a form of behaviour involving the human need to communicate and to understand. Language learning involves motivation, emotions a sense of self, and a set of cultural beliefs. Language is much more than sound and words and grammar

That is why the strategies that you use to teach English are so important in order to make easier the learning, with respect to this there are several and different teaching strategies, three of the most important are: Discussions, multiple choices, repetitions strategy.

In the first part Discussions might give professors interesting classes, according to http://teacher2b.com/strategies/discuss.htm students have to read the material in order to have meaningful class discussions. Some students become adept at listening to other students’ comments and making a general comment sound relevant to the subject being discussed without them. For that reason this strategy is so helpful to the students because they give opinions to others and share all their knowledge to make a big idea of one subject and also the students to improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, memory, etc. Professors can also use this strategy to evaluate.

In the second part multiple choices according to http://teacher2b.com/strategies/teachstr.htm “Multiple choices, true-false exercises can be easily constructed by having the students participate in their creation. Explain to the students that they will be using their notes to make up 5 multiple choice and 3 true-false questions for a test. Teachers also can take the questions that students did and compile them into a test that show them the students’ level of learning; they can give them stylistic variety, and saves the teacher time and work. Sometimes the students' jokes in the questions “lighten up" a test., constructing these questions the students develop their creativity and imaginations making this strategy interesting.

In the third part repetition strategy is used to learn pronunciation. It consists on make sentences and repeat that sentences, professors have to be the guide. It can help the students to improve their English. Professors also think that one of the most difficult homework is to learn to pronounce because the mouth’s forms are different, repeating what they say it can adapt and make the correct pronunciation. If professors use this strategy as an evaluation, they can have better results because sometimes students lost their motivation to learn.

In conclusion strategies should give professors the tools that they need to teach English. Sometimes is important to know that English is more than words, is a way to motivate, improve, and create different ways to learn because they know as professors that the students have different ways to think and also the age represents an obstacle to learn because strategies are more often created to help young people and when the students are the adult people and also the third age the strategies have to change. As Barncs said the complex system of English represent a problem with the grammar, pronunciation, etc. And is necessary that professors help their students motivate their knowledge. Using strategies professors can have variety to teach, to evaluate and also to their own learning.

The problem of learning English in highschool.

In highschool, English is not being taught for the students to be interested in learning a foreing language but it is taught just to fulfill the academic program, fotr that reason the students comes out to the highschool without any nothion of something which will be extremely important for the future and it may open many doors fotr them.

comments

1.- We think that it is an appropiate topic, but you omitted the thesis statement. Remember that the introductory paragraph should contain the thesis statement.

2.- Be careful with grammar and spelling (prepositions).

3.- It would be better if you put the tittle of the essay after you finish it, take it as a suggestion.

DEVELOPMENTAL PHARAGRAPH

In Venezuela, English needs to have the importance that it has to have, one of the principal problems are that the professors do not have enough resources to learn it. One of the most important resource is audio-visual resource, this resource help the student to see and to listen different ways to speak a new language, other resource is improve their English with dialogues, readings, games referring to English, etc,. The students need to understand what importance is English in these days but the only way is help them to understand it.

Another one of the main problems to learn English is that the same program has been used for a long time and the same one has not waked up the interest of the students. English is something that needs to be taught in different way to call the students attention but if the same training program throughout the years is used, it was not helped the student to see more than they are leaning.

Sometimes is necessary to understand that English has to be practice all the time and if the program is the same, also if professors do not have the best resources, the only that is necessary to do is to help the students and to make them understand why English is so important.

INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH

Do you think you know strategies to teach English? Nowadays the students are not interested in English because they think that it is difficult to learn. If you use strategies to learn English, you will catch students’ attention. This is because Venezuelan culture is enveloping in American one and it brings with it its music, its movies, its clothes, etc, and that call the young people attention. According to Pellino, Karen (2007) in http://www.teach-nology.com/ said, “The challenges face by language minority children at school as they experience what is referred to as “language shock” a struggle to learn English language and be accepted in a society that is not always accepting and not always willing to embrace diversity. These students are in a strange land trying to maintain a sense of identity related to their native culture and also become American. What a heavy burden for a young person!” For that reason strategies are the most important base to get a significant learnt in the English teaching.

BACKGROUND

Pellino, Karen (2007) in teach-nology.com said, “Students with English as a second language constitute a significant percentage of the population of our nation’s school. This population continues to increase more rapidly than those native English-speaking students. The language minority population has a high drop out rate. These students are also among the lowest ranking in academic achievement and expectations. They represent an at-risk population faced with a wide range of challenges”. As a result of that, teachers need to do something with that high percentage that have to learn English as a second language, for that reason is important to use the ideal strategies to help that percentage that need to understand English as a easy second language.

DEVELOPMENTAL PARAGRAPH

Exist many things that can help to understand English strategies represent one of the tools that help the teachers to catch their students’ attention, understanding that English sometimes could be difficult for that king of young people that are fighting to learn their native language and also they have to learn a second one. According with teach-nology.com (2007) there are many strategies that can help you to do the English you learn the best and the most dynamic too. One of the most important strategies is audio-visuals one, that are: videos, compact disk, etc. how can you use this? In your classes, you can put videos with native English speakers; it can help you a lot. You can also put music or conversations.

Generally is thought that the only strategy is audio-visual one, but it is not. Other strategies that catch the students’ attention are monologues, dialogues, dramatizations, etc; you can also call these strategies “STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE THE VOCABULARY”. It consists on make small or big groups and give them peaces of paragraph or phrases in order to learn them by heart or they can read them. It helps the students to improve their vocabulary because sometimes you will find students that can not speak English fluently, they want to be helped, and these strategies are perfect for them. Apart of this king of students, there are students that they do not present interested in other language and these strategies (as it is dynamic), it can envelop all king of students.

With reference to Pellino, Karen (2007) in teach-nology.com said, “As educators you need to realize that education occurs in the context of a social climate. The relationships between students and accompanying range of social behavior have a major impact on how well the students learn English and how well the students learn overall. Children can not achieve in an unwelcoming, hostile, environment”. She said in addition, “They often lack the ability to interact in social settings with English speaking peers and have the opportunity to interact academically or socially”. It explains you that socially information is a strategy too, because they are enveloped in a society that present the first level in this country and using this information to improve their English, you turns it as a strategy too.

USING STRATEGIES AS A BEST WAY TO TEACH.

That is why the strategies that you use to teach English are so important in order to make easier the learning, with respect to this there are several and different teaching strategies, three of the most important are: audio-visual, effective Discussions, and working with groups strategies.

Now there are many things that can help to understand the English, strategies represent one of the tools that help the teachers to catch their students’ attention, understanding, that this language sometimes could be difficult for that king of young people that are fighting to learn their native language and also they have to learn a second one. According with teach-nology.com (2007) there are many strategies that can help you to do the English you learn the best and the most dynamic too. One of the most important strategies is audio-visuals one, that are: videos, compact disk, etc. how can you use this? In your classes, you can put videos referring to places or vacation (something that help you to break the ice) with native English speakers; it can help you a lot. You can also put music or conversations.

Generally is thought that the only strategy is audio-visual one, but it is not. Another strategy that can help you is effective Discussions, according to http://teacher2b.com/strategies/discuss.htm “therefore in-class time has to read the material in order to have meaningful class discussions. Some students become adept at listening to other students’ comments and making a general comment sound relevant to the subject being discussed without themselves first having read the material”. For that reason this strategy is so helpful to the students because they give opinions to others and share all their knowledge to make a big idea of one subject and also the students to improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, memory, etc.

Besides of those strategies there is one that is Constructing Multiple Choice Exercises, according to http://teacher2b.com/strategies/teachstr.htm “Multiple choices, true-false exercises can be easily constructed by having the students participate in their creation. Explain to the students that they will be using their notes to make up 5 multiple choice and 3 true-false questions for a test. (The more thorough their notes, the more they can review for the test and the more likely they will know other students' questions.) Teachers can take the students' questions and compile them into a test that fits the students' level of learning, gives stylistic variety, and saves the teacher time and work. [Sometimes the students' humour in the questions "lightens up" a test.] To compile the exercises, simply go through the students' questions, marking and editing the best ones and then typing them up”. Constructing these questions the students develop their creativity and imaginations making this strategy interesting.

In conclusion, strategies represent an excellent help to teach English, as Barcs Ochoa (2007) said English is no only sounds and grammar, it is more than that, because it could be an important language you can use in other countries or cultures and the use of strategies give you the correct tools. It is thought that teach English is not easy but if you get information and used it right, taking the best strategies to teach it you will do it. In addition, you can change the strategies to others that can help you more, it is depends on the stude

7. Beck's MusicMusic is central to my life. Without music, the world would be naked, cold, and quiet. Music can set the rhythm for a long day of work, the mood for a date, for a party, for your whole life. It can wrap you in a blanket of comfort when you are lonely, or inspire you when you are down. Music is a vehicle for expressing love, telling a story, or showing happiness. My love for music has grown immensely throughout the past few years and continues to grow without bounds. Playing musical instruments, the piano and guitar, has deepened my appreciation for the sounds I hear when I listen to music. From personal experience playing in concerts and writing my own songs, I have captured the views of both sides of music's artistic prism: creation and presentation. Creation, I have learned, can be a tremendously tedious task. It involves much more than perseverance and determination. Beck Hansen, known as Beck, is a musical genius who performs an unparalleled, funky, and melodic music style. At the age of 29, he has produced six full albums and will soon be releasing his seventh. Beck has become an inspirational icon among rising musicians and has defied the classification system of musical genres. Much disagreement has arisen over what kind of music it is that Beck performs, the resistance to classification is what makes it unique. He merges coinciding genres, psychedelic hip-hop, folk, rap, and country, to define his own genre. Beck's dynamic music adjusts to the latest musical trends and builds off of talent from past generations. a catfish feeding on the bottom of a lake, Beck's music feeds off of the styles of other successful musician, Bob Dylan and The Beastie Boys. , this does not mean that Beck is a copycat artist. It means that his music is based on a collaboration of the sounds of the world, and this makes his music very diversified. Beck is one of the most original musicians of all time, and to classify him as anything but a genius would be even more absurd than Beck himself. He is always "courting cultural disaster, and part of his genius is that he's always on the verge of making a complete ass of himself"(Rotundi). Popular music had been leaning towards psychedelics for a couple years already and Are You Experienced? came out at about the same time as the Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Are You Experienced? far exceeded the Beatles' triumph in complexity, capturing the essence of the late 1960's culture. the newer band did not share the immediate success of the Beatles. its staying power has been testified to by several generations. The British version of Are You Experienced? contained a few subtle differences. Most prominent were the absence of "Purple Haze" and the addition of Hendrix standard "Red House". "Purple Haze" caught fire in America after the Monterey Pop Festival and became Jimi's signature song. it was said to have endless verses, Jimi generally sang only the shortened version from the album (with a few ad lib changes).
